Burnish 3 The Not OK Corral, the third annual Burnish
Why Burnish III: The third annual Burnish benefits the advancement of dance, fire, juggling, knife throwing, clowning, sharp shooting and aerial artistry and other great circus style entertainment in the Memphis area. This show was extremely well received last year. Our performance will be free to the public. The success of this show is vital to our ability to propel this event into the mix of efforts Memphis is making to enrich our cultural environment. Our city strives constantly to weave itself more closely together. With this event we facilitate for us all another opportunity to do just that, with singular focus on the importance of the Performance Arts to the city of Memphis.
The original show was conceived and produced by loved fire performer, Nadia Sophia. She envisioned the necessity of bringing awareness to the city of Memphis about how it serves as an incubator to new and progressive art forms, right here in your backyard! Val Russell enhanced burnish II. She grew the show larger inviting sponsorship and vending opportunities. Val move the course of the show more towards the lovable family friendly circus style venue. Last years’ Circus ABLAZE: Burnish II was an enormous success with fifteen sponsors, six vendors and more diversity of acts. This year we are diversifying styles of performers, offering more variety, evolving more sponsors and working with creative vendors.
The Not OK Corral: Burnish III, Friday, October 19, 2012 at the Levitt Shell in Overton Park. Already, we have a variety of performers: Valeria’s Wings aerial performers, Gabriella Bellydance, FireTribe, Bridging Souls Productions, Memphis Raqs Bellydance, Nava Sanctum, Adam West Scott, The Memphis Human Jugglers and celebrated Memphis’ professional Circus Entertainer Just Larry will be joined by Jugglers, Fan Dancers, Vaudeville Comedians and more, the likes of which rarely appear in such a thrilling show here in Memphis. This is truly a unique opportunity for performers and for audiences to enjoy some delightful entertainers, most of who have been training and/or performing in these overlooked arts for over six years.
Aerialist, Teacher, Push Pilates and Aerial Business owner, and leader of the circus troupe Valeria’s Wings, and Valeria’s Wings Production Company, Val F. Russell, has picked the ball up (again) in hopes that Burnish III will continue to grow into an annual loved tradition and an event that will both expands Memphis arts and bridge communities.
